  • All relationships get stuck in distressing patterns at times. Couple and relationship therapies can help you identify those patterns, understand one another, and communicate more effectively so all partners’ needs are met and you feel like a team. We use evidence-based therapies, meaning treatments that have been tested in clinical research studies and shown to be effective. No treatment is a silver bullet for everyone, but these evidence-based therapies give you the best chance to deepen your connection, heal relational wounds, and communicate well.

The evidence-based therapies that we use include:

    Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT)

    Cognitive-Behavioral Couple Therapy (CBCT)

Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy (EFT / EFCT)

    Non-Traditional Relationship Therapy

Unlike most couple therapists, we have a lot of experience working with non-monogamous relationships and adapting these evidence-based therapies for multiple partners, not just couples. We specialize in working with people who have expansive, creative, or non-traditional relationships. We affirm the relationship choice that is right for you, whether that’s monogamy or non-monogamy, and we support you in creating and thriving in the relationship you really want. We can also help individuals and partners explore what kind of relationship structure works for you and support you through opening up, redefining boundaries, or any other kind of transition.

    Relationship Issues We Treat

Regardless of your relationship structure or style, our therapists can help you work through a wide range of issues and challenges, including:

    • Communication problems

    • Sex and intimacy issues

    • Infidelity and other betrayals

    • Co-parenting

    • Racial, cultural, or values differences

    • Mental health diagnoses and symptoms (PTSD, OCD, depression, etc.)

    • Coping with discrimination, illness, or other chronic stressors

    • Decisions about commitment, children, and the future of your relationship

    • Breaking up with kindness and integrity

  • We work with individuals who are interested in improving your relationships so you can create the joyful, expansive life you want. We support clients in developing essential relationship skills like emotion regulation, conflict management, and intimate connection. We also help clients explore your values, needs, and boundaries so you can make healthy relationship decisions.

We specialize in working with people who are queer/LGBTQ+, kinky, and/or non-monogamous, but we are passionate about supporting all people in building your best possible relationships, whatever that looks like. We honor each person’s unique identity, goals, and circumstances - your therapist is a person who truly understands and accepts you unconditionally. We work with clients to develop a treatment plan that helps you identify and work toward your personal goals.

We use evidence-based therapies that have shown to be the most effective ways of making the changes you want, including:

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

    Self-Compassion

    We Support Diverse Clients

We are deeply committed to supporting individuals with all identities and backgrounds - all races, ethnicities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, religions, mental and physical abilities, body sizes, income levels, and more. We practice cultural humility and critical theory, meaning we strive to understand your identities within the broader social context we live in and to honor your lived experience. We understand the impacts of stigma, discrimination, racism, and oppression, and we endeavor to support individuals and communities in thriving despite these cultural and institutional forces.

  • Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is a cutting-edge treatment for individual and relational problems. Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic, and along with psilocybin and MDMA is being studied as a modality of modern psychedelic-assisted therapy. Ketamine has the potential to enhance benefits of traditional individual and couple therapies by improving cognitive flexibility, perspective taking, empathy, and connection. Ketamine works by increasing neuroplasticity, the ability of our brains to create new neural pathways, which can translate into the ability to make changes in your thinking, behavior, and relationships that previously felt impossible. Read more about how KAP works here.

We partner with Journey Clinical to provide KAP to our clients. Journey provides your ketamine prescription and medical care, while we work with you on preparation and integration of ketamine medicine sessions. We can also provide remote guidance and support during your ketamine session. KAP is available for individuals, couples, or other pairs or groups of loved ones.

    Ketamine Couples’ Therapy

We are some of the only licensed therapists in California trained specifically in psychedelic-assisted therapy with couples. We have developed a unique protocol for couples’ integration following a ketamine session that uses the most effective couple therapy techniques to help partners connect more deeply, understand one another, and find empathy and forgiveness.
